I am listening to an audiobook by Adam Savage of MythBusters fame. He quoted a famous American essayist and philosopher.

“To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all men, — that is genius.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson in his 1841 essay “Self-Reliance”

When I’ve had to make a business decision, I’d wonder if others would buy my products. I always found myself thinking, “I like that” or “that would make my life easier” along with the realization that I am just an average person. If I would buy it, then I knew others would too.

Emerson was right, Adam Savage is right.
